Arrivals Surge In October

MAI KHAO: Domestic and international passenger arrivals at Phuket International Airport surged last month as both categories recorded double-digit, year-on-year increases, an airport spokesman announced today. Last month, 85,611 passengers disembarked from domestic flights, up 26 percent from October 1997 when 67,698 arrivals were recorded. International arrivals rose 17 percent, with 38,092 passengers for the month. In October 1997, there were 32,458 overseas arrivals. From January 1, 1998 through October 31, 1998, a total of 1,236,080 passenger arrivals were recorded at the airport – a year-on-year increase of 124,275 passengers.
