Flood, landslide warnings for four provinces in the South

PHUKET: The National Disaster Warning Centre yesterday issued a flooding and landslide warning to four southern provinces – Phatthalung, Songkhla, Trang and Satun – for yesterday and today.
Early yesterday morning, in Phatthalung, forest run-off smashed into four villages in Khuan Khanun district’s tambon Khuan Khanun.
About 50 soldiers from the nearby Apiborirak Camp in nearby Sri Nakarin district were sent to assist the victims. Navy officers at Krabi’s Koh Lanta Noi dispatched a speedboat at 8pm on Wednesday to rescue nine tourists from a chartered boat off Koh Mha after the engine broke down and they drifted amid high swells since morning.
In Trang’s Na Yong district, rural roads and farmlands in four subdistricts were hit by rain-triggered forest floods, while Narathiwat’s Sungai Kolok district saw two riverside communities inundated with up to 40 centimetres of water.
