Police seek better photos of mob leaders

THALANG: Police have been unable to issue warrants for the arrests of people suspected of being involved in a mob three weeks ago at the Yacht Haven marina because the pictures they have are not clear enough for positive identification. The mob beat up Kent Michalick, a member of the crew of the superyacht Yanneke Too and trashed the pick-up truck he was driving because he sped through their village, Baan Kor-Ane, at a rate they felt was excessive, while on his way to put out a fire aboard the yacht. The commander of the Tah Chat Chai police station, Pol Maj Wirawat Chantarawijit, told the Gazette today, “Mr Michalick and [yacht skipper Charlie] Dwyer have already been here, but the pictures are not very clear, and they said they could only recognize a couple of them.” Police will now comb their own records for clearer shots and will also ask villagers for better photographs of those suspected to be the mob ringleaders. “We plan to invite the victims to see new pictures again some time next week. Then we can issue arrest warrants,” Maj Wirawat said. He added that the police are certain they know the identity of one of the ringleaders, but declined to name him.
