Mystery over fire-gutted car

KATHU: Police here are mystified as to how a saloon car rented by a Kathu resident ended up outside Dulwich International College, completely gutted by fire. Pol Lt Col Sanguan Muangtham told the Gazette, “Around 3 am on Saturday I received a phone call from a man who reported that the car, which he had rented, had disappeared.” Col Sanguan said the car was found, later the same morning, by a passing motorcyclist who called the police. “I asked the man who rented the car to come to the police station to make a report,” he added, “but so far he hasn’t shown up.” The police have been in touch with the rental company, which they declined to name, but so far there are no clues as to how the car ended up in its current state.
