Four injured after lorry jumps lanes, smashes Phuket sedan and hits motorbike

PHUKET: A lorry jumped lanes and struck a sedan and then a motorbike before coming to rest in the far lane of Lim San Curve in Kathu, at about 2:30pm today.

Four were injured, but no one was killed.

The black Honda Dream motorbike was still caught beneath the six-wheeled lorry, when duty officer Watthanathorn Bumrungthin of the Thung Thong Police arrived at the scene.

“Witnesses said the six-wheeled truck was travelling at a high-speed towards Kathu when the driver lost control. The truck hit a tree planted in the median before it crossed into the far lane. It then smashed into a blue sedan, and ran over a motorbike, dragging the motorbike some distance,” Capt Watthanathorn said.

Two Japanese women and one Thai woman riding in the sedan were injured in the accident and were taken to hospital, as was the motorbike driver, he said.

“We still have to question the lorry driver to determine the cause of the incident,” Capt Watthanathorn added.
