Drug bust nets six men and over 4,000 pills

PHUKET TOWN: Police arrested six men on Tuesday in a plain-clothes bust involving more than 4,000 ya bah (methamphetamine) pills. Acting on a tip off, Pol Lt Worapojt Watanasuwan and his squad of plain clothes officers from Phuket Town Police Station, organized to meet Tawit Juansri, 23, Wasin Sotatas, 30, and Surachai Jankaew, 23, at 6:30 am at a public phone booth on Yaowarat Rd. At the meeting, the police had organized to buy some ya bah from the trio. After luring the men into selling the drug, they arrested the three, who were found to have 190 ya bah pills in their possession. During questioning, the three told the police that they had bought the drugs at a house in Phuket Town. Police moved to raid the house, where they found three men – Pairojt Urugchart, 28, Tasapong Hemarajt, 27, and Seri Jarungjit, 25 – and 4,170 ya bah pills in a bag hidden in the bathroom. All six were charged with being in possession of and selling ya bah.
