Another tourist murdered in Krabi

KRABI: A tourist from Germany died here early this morning of multiple stab wounds she received during what police believe was a rape attempt by three local men. Petra Sabine Sack, 33, was found unconscious on Ao Nang beach by a guard at TK Mansion, where she was staying. The guard heard screams from the beach nearby at about 10 pm. When he went to investigate, he saw three men running away and found Ms Sack unconscious on the sand. She had been stabbed in the neck, stomach and back. She died four hours later in hospital. Pol Maj Sanya Podsalee, Sub-Inspector of the Tourist Police told the Gazette that Ms Sack, an engineer, arrived in Krabi on November 19, traveling alone. She would leave the hotel early each day, he said, returning late in the evening. She was known to have frequented a bar beer nearby, and police theorize that it was there that she met the three suspects, who are now being sought by the authorities. Ms Sack was the second woman tourist murdered in Krabi in the space of two months. On October 1, Cao Gu, a 21-year-old German woman of Vietnamese descent, was robbed and murdered by boatman Kasem Dumdee. Kasem was caught within days and is now serving a life sentence for the killing.
